History
The Mandan Rodeo is legendary, beginning as a Fourth of July event in 1879 with a baseball game and pony races. In 2019 the event celebrates its 140th anniversary.
Today, at Dacotah Centennial Park, the Mandan Rodeo continues to touch the lives and hearts of many over the Fourth of July. The rodeo is coordinated by a subcommittee of the Mandan Progress Organization and is held on the racetrack. It is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and attracts more than 500 cowboys and cowgirls to compete for a purse of nearly $130,000. This includes $70,000 in added prize money made possible with the generous support of local sponsors.
