This July 20-24 will mark the second year for Utah’s one-million- dollar rodeo held right here in Salt Lake City. Celebrating the modern-day pioneer spirit and our forefather’s rich western heritage, the event is held in the state of the art 17.5 Million-dollar Days of ’47 Arena at State Fair Park. There is not a bad seat in this venue, boasting of 10,000 reserved stadium style seats for its fans.
The Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo features a Olympic style format offering Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to its winners. Contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie- down roping, barrel racing and bull riding will earn the right to be invited to the Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo by winning points for placings at a series of national Trial Events. The Gold Medal Round will pay an historical $744,000 and the winners in each discipline will receive $50,000 in cash and a Cowboy Games Gold Medal.
Bring the family early, as the park opens at 4PM and features the Young Living Farms Family Fun Zone. A family can get their “Cowboy On” with free mechanical bull rides, pony rides, free petting zoo, carnival, cultural exhibits with Pioneer and Native American encampments, mutton busting, a free country music stage and much more.
The new 8:00pm start time for the rodeo will mean cooler temperatures and more time to enjoy all the free family fun on the park.

- Entry is free into Young Living Frontier Fun Zone. There is plenty of fun for the whole family. Open from 4-11 PM, enjoy games, concession stands, a petting zoo and learn the history of the Utah Pioneers, the American Indians, and the mountain men. For the 21 and over guests, beer and wine are sold near the covered pavilion located by the Pioneer Village and enjoy the sounds of live country music; every hour the stage will feature a new artist.
