Yaateeh riders! Welcome to the 26th annual Chuska Challenge!
The Chuska Challenge is the Navajo Nation’s premier mountain bike event of the year, taking place on the final weekend of September in the Chuska Mountains. The Chuska Challenge Tour includes 35-mile and 20-mile non-competitive options, offers riders some awesome riding in some of the most beautiful countries in Dine’ Bikeyah. The competitive Mountain Bike Race includes a variety of routes and distances and includes awards for top riders. There will be a Skills Course set up for riders to play on throughout the weekend, and there will be a Youth Race on Saturday.
Chuska Challenge registration includes a performance t-shirt, Chuska poster, course support, all meals Saturday, Sunday breakfast, and live music! Camping is available on Friday and Saturday nights at the Chuska camp, which is located just one mile east of Buffalo Pass.
AWARDS– All riders will receive a finisher’s medal as well as a Chuska decal, race bib, and performance t-shirt. The medal, t-shirt, and bib will be mailed to riders.
There will be overall awards, as well as an age-group award. All awards will be mailed after the race.
The race is also the fourth event in the Tour de Rez Cup bike race series. (Depending upon the Navajo Nation guidelines, Chuska may be the fourth event in the TDR Cup Series, following Hashkeniinii, MV, and Asaayi. The re-scheduled Beclabito Bike Race is slated to run in October on a set course and will serve as the final event of the TDR Cup Series. The announcement regarding the Beclabito race details will be made as soon as possible.
