For over 60 years, the Nicola Valley Rodeo Association (NVRA) has been dedicated to celebrating and preserving the western culture and way of life that founded the region through the sport of rodeo. The NVRA has hosted a wide range of equine and livestock events –from professional rodeos to 4-H and high school events. The Nicola Valley Professional Rodeo takes place on the September long weekend every year.

- The rodeo grounds and venue were built and, for more than half a century, have been run by the Nicola Valley Rodeo Association. Merritt and the Nicola Valley area have a strong history in ranching, rodeo, and equine events. This legacy continues every year with the signature event, the Nicola Valley Pro Rodeo, on the September long weekend. Throughout the rest of the year, the Rodeo Grounds host a wide range of events including ranch rodeos, 4-H and high school rodeos, bull riding school and also serves as the community riding arena.
